On her lead fourth single off the re-release of the soon to be 4 x platinum 'Emancipation,' Carey releases 'Don't Forget About Us,' another track produced by long-time producer Jermaine Dupri. What makes this song unique is not so much the quality of it having the ability to sound like 'We Belong Together' (remember folks, Mariah has re-written the blueprint for what a lush R&B song is supposed to sound like), but more the fact that the song itself has structure. In subsequent singles it has been a long time since we've heard a true bridge from Mimi.

In retrospect, who knows if this track will have the same success as "Together...' Do we really care? The story-line is great, the vocals, amazing, background, superb; "Us" has all the elements that a yearning (fall-song) should have. I'm going to go on a whim and say that all formats will raise this jam to #1. In the words of Carey, "I'm just speaking from expericence, nothing can compare to your first true love..." If the accompaniment of a video is as grand as this song is, there is no telling how much accolade Carey will recieve at this years 2006 Grammy's. I'm expecting at least 4 nods if not 6. We sure as hell won't forget about you this time
