Though only the 3rd official relaease from 'Monkey Business,' the Black Eyed Peas has had a year of much success with the digital age ushering the concept of what I would like to call, "force releases." Simply put: digital retail stores (iTunes, Rhapsody) now gives the opportunity to download singles online, which spike sales and makes a song reach Billboard's charts; imagine if 'My Humps' wasn't force released! While this seems like a breakthrough in the idea that future albums will allow us to overide record companies, let's not move so fast. Those people still have the rights to the licenses and can push/hold back any single until they feel it should be released on our favortie online retail stores. Now that we are on our "fifth" single, (really 4th if 'Dum Diddly' would have reached the Hot 100) the Black Eyed are continuously making us party while making Fergie a star à la Gwen Stefani.
